Identity

It seems that almost every tradition and norm is under attack in today’s society. Things that were indisputable in the very recent past are called into question and even denied by those trying to effect change and implement a radical agenda. Iniquity and consequently strife, abound fulfilling the passage in James 3:16, “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work”. Indeed, confusion is the hallmark of our age.

Among the most attacked attribute of humanity is that of identity. Some contend that you can be whatever you choose to “identify” as regardless of biological disparities within that identification. This is one area in which the enemy of our souls has not missed an opportunity to insert confusion and attempt to subvert the forever settled Word of God.

The reality is that our identity as children of God is indisputable. John let us know that Jesus gave us power to become the sons of God (John 1:12). The beloved apostle reiterated this truth in his first epistle, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be” (I John 3:2). The world can clamor incessantly about its “right” to identify. The elites can debate ad nauseam about their ideas of things that cannot change. The church will continue to uphold the truth that we are the children of the most high God. Your identity is settled in Christ!
