There can be times in life where we feel uncertain about the path we are on. Sometimes as we navigate through obstacles and challenges we might wonder if we are doing the right thing. There are even times that we might question our direction and purpose. As children of God we can rest assured that we are in the palm of His hand and that the Lord has a plan for our life.
A powerful verse that illustrates this reality is found in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”. Many newer versions translate the first part of this verse as, “For I know the plans that I have for you”. The Hebrew word that is translated as thoughts in the King James Version means, “thoughts and intents of the heart”. This same word is used in Genesis 6:5 in describing the totality of man’s intent to do evil. The connotation is that the Lord is consumed with thinking good thoughts toward us!
The Lord does not begin every day looking a reason to judge us. He does not delight in having to chastise or correct us. Rather, His thoughts that He thinks toward us are thoughts of peace and not evil, to give us and expected end. God has a plan for your life. All you need to do is walk in obedience to the Word of God and follow the leading of His Spirit and you will ultimately fulfill that plan.
